Meet Our Founder

Janice Avery-Walthall is currently the CEO/President at J3 | Human Resources Consulting, LLC. The primary focus of her company is to provide organizations with professional services, which include Human Resources consultation, assistance with employment legal compliance, employee policies and procedures development and maintenance, job description development, compensation analysis, employee relations investigations, training and development, system implementation project management, and services that support and improve the success of an employee’s employment life cycle. 

Avery-Walthall has extensive knowledge and experience in all functions of Human Capital Management and is a well-respected and proven business leader in both the public and private sectors. She gained valuable strategic and tactical experience while employed with organizations, such as FedEx Express, FedEx Services, and FedEx Corporate, University of Tennessee, Memphis, University of Alabama, Birmingham, and Hilton and Hyatt hotels.

She strongly believes in giving back and paying it forward, which is demonstrated in her community activities.  Avery-Walthall is a graduate of the Leadership Memphis Executive Program, Executive class of 2020. She held several Board positions with the Mid-South Compensation Association, served as a member of the ACI-NA Human Resources Steering Committee, member of the Center for Workplace Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Board, University of Memphis, and participated on various Human Resources strategic committees and panels.

Avery-Walthall is a proud graduate of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Tennessee State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.  She received her designation of a Certified Compensation Professional from WorldatWork Total Rewards Association. Avery-Walthall has been honored with awards for her demonstrated innovation, collaboration, efficiency, and profitability, as a result of her professional accomplishments. 

In her spare time, she loves spending time with family and friends, travelling, reading, and gardening.
